Tax on Dividends paid on US stocks

Modified on Wed, 7 May at 4:08 PM

In general, the withholding tax rate for a cash dividend paid by a US corporation is 30%.

Some countries, including Malta, have treaties with the US government that allow for the reduction of the tax payable on dividends subject to certain conditions, including that investors submit a valid W-8BEN Form.

In the case of Maltese residents, the withholding tax rate is set at 15%.
