Which currency will be deducted when spending?

Modified on Wed, 7 May at 4:08 PM

When using your Mastercard for purchases, we will automatically convert the value of the payment to the currency you are spending in at the best available rate, so you do not have to pre-purchase local currencies.

The card selects which currency to use in this manner:

  • The currency of the payment (e.g. if you are in the EU carrying out a transaction in Euro, we will deduct funds from your Euro balance)
  • Your base currency (EUR)
  • The next active currency with the largest sufficient balance.

Funds are not taken from more than one currency balance at a time, so if there are no currency accounts with sufficient funds, the transaction will be declined.
