What is a fractional share?

Modified on Wed, 7 May at 4:08 PM

A fractional share is a part of a whole share. This allows investors to access equity investing in small amounts, especially if a particular stock may be trading at high absolute levels like for example at $1,000 per share. Owning fractional shares entitles a shareholder to the same rights as a regular shareholder like for example dividends.

Moneybase offers fractional share trading on most US stocks.
